Write your testimony in three short parts: before, how you met Jesus, and since. Add one line about what Jesus did, then hand the conversation back with a question. Plain words, about a minute out loud, in English or Spanish.
“Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” — Mark 5:19
Aim for 110–170 words: about a minute out loud.
What was your life like, honestly? One or two sentences. What were you chasing, avoiding, or afraid of?
Start with: “Before I knew Jesus, I…”
What happened, and what did you understand about Jesus? Name a moment, a person, or a question, not just a feeling.
Start with: “What changed was…”
What is different now? Be honest. Life did not become perfect, so say what Jesus actually changed.
Start with: “Since then,…”
I learned that Jesus died for the wrong I had done and rose again, and that he forgives anyone who trusts him.
Step 1
One or two honest sentences about life before Jesus. Pick the part a stranger might recognise: pressure, loneliness, anger, chasing approval. You do not need a dramatic past. You need a true one.
Step 2
Say what happened and what you understood about Jesus. A person, a question, a verse, a night. If you grew up in church, name when faith became yours instead of your parents'.
Step 3
Do not promise that every problem disappeared. Say what Jesus changed: forgiveness, peace, a reason to get up, a way out of a habit. Overstating it makes the whole story sound like a sales pitch.
Step 4
Include one plain line about what Jesus did: he died for our sins and rose again, and he forgives anyone who trusts him. Your story is the door. He is the reason anyone walks through it.
Step 5
End by asking about them. Has anything like that ever happened to you? Where are you at with God? Then listen. A testimony that ends in a question becomes a conversation.
About a minute when you say it out loud, which is roughly 110 to 170 words. Short enough that a stranger stays with you, long enough to say before, the moment you met Jesus, and since. You can always tell more if they ask.
Many people came to faith slowly or grew up in church. Say when faith became yours and what Jesus has kept you from or carried you through. The man Jesus healed in John 9 did not have answers to every question. He said, 'I was blind but now I see!'
Share enough to be honest, not enough to be graphic. Protect other people's privacy, especially family. The point is not what you did. The point is what Jesus did about it.
Yes, in one plain sentence. Without it, your story is about a better life, not about Jesus. Say that he died for our sins and rose again, and that he forgives anyone who trusts him.

The longer teaching is how to share your testimony in 60 seconds. Plan the whole conversation with the gospel conversation planner, and if they open up about a need, offer to pray with them.
